Hostaria Po, a Roman restaurant in the Coppedè district, is preparing to celebrate its tenth year of activity.
This family business, which was launched by Giorgio de Iulio in 2013, has built a reputation for its focus on Roman cuisine, but willingness to experiment with modern, seasonal delights.
Frequented both by Romans and overseas visitors, many of whom are stationed in the district’s numerous hotels, or visiting its international offices, Hostaria Po prides itself on an excellent wine list prioritising local labels.
10 best dishes at Hostaria Po
To celebrate this important milestone, as of 27 September, Hostaria Po has been serving its ten most iconic dishes of the past decade in a special menu.
I went to try several of the 10 best dishes at Hostaria Po and I wasn’t disappointed. Of note, were the 2013 dish, filo pastry bundles of vegetables and taleggio cheese with a parmesan fondue and red wine jam. The year 2014 is represented by larded prawns with rosemary potatoes and ginger cream, while 2015 is the year of fresh paccheri pasta with pistachio pesto and cooked and raw prawns.
In 2016, Hostaria Po’s Tiramisu triumphed, and this is served at the table with a small jug of coffee that the customer can add to the dessert. Other dishes to watch include 2017’s curried chicken, or the fried beef steak from 2018. Perhaps my favourite was the hit dish from 2022, duck smoked with cherry wood, topped with myrtle and blueberries.
What about 2023? ‘The year isn’t over yet – I’ll have to see which dish wins over our customers!’ grins Giorgio.
Highly recommended!
