Roma Bar Show, the biggest ever mixology exhibition to hit Rome, will be opening its doors to members of the public and trade experts for two days from Monday September 23, as experts from the world of cocktail bars and specialist spirit and fortified wine producers come together at the Palazzo dei Congressi in EUR.
Running for two full days, Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 September, from 10 am to 9 pm, the show is open to the public as well as beverage sector experts, with a vibe ranging from F&B professional to professional drinker.
Masterclasses, talks and conferences, side events and out-of-show events dedicated to the beverage trade will flank stands in the main hall from both principal players in the sector, as well as top indie brands.
The munchies won’t be overlooked, with F&B magazine Agrodolce handling the selection of food trucks and stalls at the Roma Bar Show. Look out for street food favourites Pizza e Mortazza, Supplizio, Gricia Road, Olive Ascolane Migliori and Pret-à-Polpett, as well as the Mexican cuisine of La Punta Expendio di Agave and Coffee Pot.
100 years of Negroni at the Roma Bar Show
The first edition of Roma Bar Show coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Negroni, one of Italy’s best-loved exports and arguably one of the greatest mixed drinks in the world. Expect remixes of this ruby classic from the talented bartenders on show.
Themed areas at the Roma Bar Show will include a ‘Mexico Village’, as well as a ‘Gin Area’ on the congress centre’s outdoor terrace – perfect for the apertivo hour.
Key initiatives at the Roma Bar Show include the Italian final of ‘The Vero Bartender’ sponsored by Montenegro, as well as a cycling-themed event sponsored by Martini, with the participation of hipster-cyclist-barmen from all over the world (bring your moustache wax!).
If your interest in the world of mixology is more professional, a series of masterclasses dubbed RBS Academy are set to explore topics ranging from the creativity and eccentricity of London to the successful elements of the world-conquering Italian touch. Expect local Roman heroes, such Antonio Parlapiano of The Jerry Thomas Speakeasy in Rome, up on stage.
Look out too for the ‘out-of-show’ events which will be popping up across the city during Roma Bar Show, commencing on Sunday 22 September. You’re likely to find local and international guest bartenders at your favourite watering holes, including the Jerry Thomas Speakeasy, La Punta Expendio de Agave, Freni e Frizioni, Hotel Locarno, Drink Kong, Aquaroof Terrazza Molinari at the First Hotel, Argot, Club Derrière, Banana Republic, Baccano, Metropolita, Chorus Cafè and many others.
Tickets can be ordered online ahead of time to save you queuing at the venue. A one day ticket costs €20, while a two-day pass is good value at €30, giving you access to the event and some tasting opportunities. You’ll be able to pay for further drinks on the day. So get ready to raise a glass to a wonderful window on a fascinating world.
