Comprising the gourmet Vista Restaurant – one of Rome’s most romantic restaurants – and representing an exceptional events space and wedding venue, Casina Valadier is also home to the Chill Sunset Bar.
Open for the summer and autumn season, the Chill Sunset Bar launched in June 2020 serving cocktails and food in the extraordinary grounds of Casina Valadier Rome, with its enviable position on the edge of Villa Borghese.
From the gardens of Casina Valadier Roma and the tables of the Chill Sunset Bar, guests can watch the sun falling over the old rooftops of Rome, including views of Piazza del Popolo and Saint Peter’s Basilica.
Casina Valadier Rome is located a tier above Rome’s famous Pincio, one of its most romantic meeting places due to its enviable sunset views.
The Chill Sunset Bar at Casina Valdier is open from 18.00 in the evening to 2.00 in the morning, so you can not only enjoy sunset moments here but also candlelit al fresco dining.
While the Chill Sunset Bar is open to the public for aperitivo drinks, dinner and late-night cocktails, it is also available for private hire. That means that if you’re planning to drop in for a drink one evening, it’s essential to call ahead to find out if Casina Valadier Rome is booked that night.
In any case, you should always plan to reserve your table at this fashionable venue because the Chill Sunset Bar is one of Rome’s most popular summer aperitivo bars and outdoor restaurants.
Chef Massimo D’Innocenti, who is also at the helm of Casina Valadier’s Vista Ristorante, is happily in charge of the menu at the Chill Sunset Bar as well.
Expect a focus on Italian and Mediterranean seasonal ingredients of the highest quality, with plenty of riffs on Roman cuisine. Small plates, designed for the aperitivo hour, cost €10 and €15.
Meanwhile, cocktails at the Chill Sunset Bar start at €18, without snacks, if you head there on a Sunday night there is a special aperitivo formula where €20 buys you a cocktail and a small plate from the menu. Full drinks list here.
While the smart-casual vibe of the Chill Sunset Bar makes it a great choice for drinks and dining, if you have a really special occasion, you might want to book for the Vista Restaurant, positioned on the roof of Casina Valadier Roma.
Vista Restaurant is positioned on the third floor of Casina Valadier Roma during the winter and spreads out onto the second floor terrace in the warmer months. The restaurant has several tables with magical views across medieval and ancient Rome, but it’s worth asking for a perimeter spot when you book.
